The Unified School District of De Pere School Nutrition Department is committed to serving healthy kid-friendly meals in accordance with USDA standards. The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act has brought about a number of changes to the National School Lunch Program including:
- Students are required to choose at least 1/2 cup of fruit and or vegetable as part of a reimbursable lunch
- Schools must offer different "sub groups" of vegetables each week including dark green, red/orange, beans/legumes
- The majority of grains offered must be whole grain rich
- Calorie limits have been set based on age group
