Learn more about this exciting opportunity for students in grades 3-12

What is Destination ImagiNation?

DI is about teaching students how to work together on teams, use creativity, and find innovative solutions to complex challenges.

  • Team Challenges: student use art, technology, performance, or real world experiences to creatively solve one of five challenges
  • Instant Challenges:  teach students to spontaneously problem solve with their teams under a time limit

Who: 3rd through 12th grade students who enjoy…

  • Learning to think on their feet

  • Using creative problem solving technique

  • Solving challenges

  • Working with a team

Teams will be formed based on the students’ school and grade level. Elementary division includes grades 3-5.  Middle level includes grades 6-8; and high school is grades 9-12. Students can be on a team that is a grade level above, but cannot compete in a challenge that’s a grade level below their age.

The success of DI lies with parent volunteers who manage or co-manage teams.  Teams, who are made up of 5-7 students, meet after school or in the evening, based on the parent manager’s schedule.  Generally, teams meet once a week from November through March.

Students must be able to attend the all day Regional Competition on Saturday, February 27 at Algoma High School. Parents must be present and transport their child.

Regional winners will compete on Saturday, April 10 at Sun Prairie High School.  Parents must be present and transport their child.

Globals: NEW THIS YEAR: This year, our district has made the decision not to participate in DI Global Finals in Kansas City. We are proud of our students’ creativity and accomplishments; teams will still have the opportunity to compete at the regional, and, if they qualify, state level.  The cost and travel required for Globals does not align with the range of opportunities and experiences we are able to provide for students across our district.

Cost:  FREE!

DPHS senior Eden Bauer qualified for the honor based on Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) scores and other program requirements.

SemiFinalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. They are among the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

Bauer brings to 24 the total number of NMS Semifinalists from De Pere High School since 2019.

US News & World Report Best High Schools 25-26

US News & World Report score up from last year

De Pere is in the top 4 percent nationally and the highest ranked high school in the Green Bay metro area.

Each year, the organization evaluates more than 18,000 schools across the country. Rankings are based on six indicators of school quality:

  • College readiness
  • Breadth of curriculum
  • Scores on state proficiency tests
  • Performance in reading, math, and science
  • Underserved student performance
  • Graduation rates

The weighted scores of those six indicators are transformed so each eligible school receives an overall percentile score between zero and 100. De Pere's score was 94.86, up slightly from 2025-2026. High schools are ranked against peers in descending order of their overall scores. Read more about US News and World Report's ranking methodology.

"Credit to our staff, students, families and the De Pere community," says De Pere High School Principal Roger Allen. "The ranking reflects the hard work being done here and the support we receive for fulfilling our mission."
